Before his debut album
2 Wild for the World,
Tom Skeemask was known as an underground bass producer, working on such records as Young Southern Playaz, Taylor Boyz and Money Butt Naked, plus hits from
Eightball & MJG. Not surprisingly,
2 Wild for the World sounds very similar to those records, complete with the bottomless bass and loping grooves. However,
Skeemask is simply a better producer than many of his peers, with a better grasp of how to make a good record. That shows throughout his official debut -- even though a couple of songs sound a little generic, it's by and large a killer bass party record that keeps the action moving whenever it's on and it's loud. ~ Leo Stanley
