Taking M.I.A’s hip-hop-meets-the-melting-pot schematic and adding elements of Dirty South trashiness, Junc Ops--a duo composed of Miami electronic musicians PG-13 and Kentsoundz--drops their delirious debut, 2013. Seemingly a concept album about a not so distant apocalyptic future, Junc Ops embraces socially conscious agitprop and party rhymes in the best dance floor polemic since Outkast’s “B.O.B.” Al Gore plays the Minister of Information role here, but the fear of environmental destruction only lends anxiety to the beats and rhyming—and an excuse to party harder.
