Tejano superstars Intocable do it again with 2008’s 2C, another superb distillation of the sextet’s blend of Tex-Mex sounds, traditional norteno, and Latin pop elements. Opener “Estela” is classic Intocable: accordion-driven, polka-flavored, and difficult to resist. But the band’s talent for melodic hooks and memorable choruses is evident on “Que Facil Es Amarte,” “Respiro Amor,” and the lilting “Caminare.” Packed with bittersweet tunes, tight musicianship, and lovely harmonies, 2C is sure to please longtime fans, and win many more to the camp of tejano’s reigning kings.
