Blending a pop-punk attack with their own brand of grainy Americana, New York quartet
Timeshares offer up their scrappy sophomore LP,
Already Dead. Arriving four years after their 2011 debut, Bearable, they've crafted something that is ultimately more accessible and melodic, yet still retains the explosive thump of their earlier work. Dropping names like
the Replacements,
Lucero, and
Superchunk as inspiration, they inject a bit of heartland twang into their beefed-up power-punk, managing to sound both warmly world-weary and full of mischief and good humor. Chunky guitars, heavy riffing, and a strong group vocal presence mark these ten songs, which are pleasantly loose but not ramshackle.
Already Dead is a solid second effort and a step forward for
Timeshares. ~ Timothy Monger
