Adam Calhoun, who carved out a career by leaning into a persona of a military veteran (the question of whether he's ever served is the cause of no small amount of controversy on various message boards), launched his recording career in a duo with Hosier, another country rapper. Somewhere along the way the two had a falling out, which Calhoun celebrates in AmerAcal's opening "Huck Fosier." That malapropism is pretty easy to figure out, but Calhoun doesn't ever choose to camouflage his intentions. Throughout AmerAcal, he relies on redneck imagery and hick-hop sounds, never deviating from the tried and true. It's the kind of record that will please his legions of followers -- no less and certainly no more.
