Miguel Poveda has become one of the leading flamenco singers of his generation, even if his frequent creative excursions outside the strict boundaries of the genre have not always sat well with the more conservative sectors of the flamenco audience. Little dissent is expected this time around, however, as Poveda has chosen to deliver a pure flamenco record with ArteSano, one that displays his admirable versatility in all flamenco variations (known as "palos") throughout a recital of traditional and modern pieces. Moreover, ArteSano is a true guitar delight, as Poveda is backed by six-string wizards Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Diego del Morao, Isidro Muñoz, Manuel Parrilla, and Jesús Guerrero, as well as José Quevedo, who also produces.
