An extremely peculiar record in the Prelude catalog, Dutch disco singer
Theo Vaness released the full-length
Back to Music with a suite of '50s and '60s chart hits strung together over the course of 15-plus minutes (a practice emulated a few years later by fellow countrymen
Stars on Long Play) as the main event. It's not exactly disco at its best, and at times registers high on the tacky meter; although doubtless there was more than one disco queen who owned the dancefloor to this medley during its heyday. The high energy slows down a bit on the flipside, with the lush and the
Bee Gees on vocals. Most of the material here will most likely appeal to the hardest of die-hard disco enthusiasts, but not really much more than that. Not exactly the best representation of disco's potential, but far from its worst.
