Bataillon d'Amour continued the path chosen with the previous albums
Mont Klamott and
Liebeswalzer, and the band further refined their musical style, producing a haunting hit with the title track "Bataillon d'Amour," which contains a beautiful fretless bassline. This song, "Schlohweißer Tag," and "Dein Cabaret Ist Tot" masterly portrayed an almost nihilistic emptiness that was so fundamentally opposite to the "everybody is happy" attitude of the GDR regime and was thus a statement in itself. ~ Frank Eisenhuth
