A nifty little album of lovers rock, [wimpLink albumId="10901878"]Beres Hammond[/wimpLink] is as unassuming as its title and steady throughout, with [wimpLink artistId="15684"]Beres Hammond[/wimpLink]'s wise, soulful singing giving these songs a tremendous sincerity. Recorded in 1992 and produced by guitarist [wimpLink artistId="3876495"]Willie Lindo[/wimpLink], the album features some impressive backup, including [wimpLink artistId="17419"]the Tamlins[/wimpLink] on harmonies, [wimpLink artistId="3855059"]Gladstone Anderson[/wimpLink] on piano, horn man [wimpLink artistId="17013"]Dean Fraser[/wimpLink], the [wimpLink artistId="32991"]Sly & Robbie[/wimpLink] rhythm section, and guitarist [wimpLink artistId="3796255"]Dwight Pinkney[/wimpLink]. Highlights include "Teeny Weeny Little Lovin'" (kind of a dumb title, but the song works in spite of it), "Lovely Day," and "If Only I Knew," although everything here has the same no-frills, comfortable appeal, all driven by [wimpLink artistId="15684"]Hammond[/wimpLink]'s easy, subtle phrasing. No one in Jamaica sings love songs better than this man. ~ Steve Leggett
