Brother, they ain't kiddin'. When a band's debut album kicks off with a song celebrating the twin joys of "Pussy and Smack" and goes on to include song titles like "One More Slut" and "Daddy's Little Fuckhole," the
Besmirchers is pretty much the only thing they could call themselves. This album would be horribly offensive on all levels if there were the slightest indication that the
Besmirchers meant a word of their misogynistic spew, but the ten-minute long hardcore blasts on
Besmirch & Destroy are so utterly dopey (the closest thing to a love song is "My dead fuck girl/You're out of this world") and delivered with such bratty shock-value smarm that getting offended by this album would just mean you were playing into their hands. Fans of Hustler magazine and
Circle Jerks (the band) might get some smutty kicks, but anyone who has left seventh grade behind mentally as well as physically will probably be bored even before this brief album is over. ~ Stewart Mason
