This brief compilation hardly contains the best of Chicago blues (there is no
Muddy Waters or
Howlin' Wolf, for instance), and while the selection is eclectic enough, ranging from early
J.B. Lenoir ("I Feel So Good") to classic
Jimmy Reed ("Big Boss Man") and vintage
Snooky Pryor ("Telephone Blues"), there are dozens of anthologies that do a better job of introducing the various diverse styles generally lumped together under the Chicago blues banner. ~ Steve Leggett
