Tru was the premiere act on New Orleans' No Limit Records, and, in fact, contained the nucleus of the future empire. Formed by No Limit head honcho Master P., the group contained P., along with his brothers Silkk the Shocker and C-Murder (who, along with P., went on to have successful solo careers on No Limit). With its booming bass lines, fat beats, and lyrics about hardcore gangsta life, Tru weren't exactly progressive rap, but their jams brought the party, epitomized New Orleans rap, and set the stage for the rise of the No Limit empire. THE BEST OF TRU is true to its name, compiling the most memorable moments from the trio's albums.
