Blues for Sabine gets its name from the piece the famous jazzman and arranger Torrie Zito wrote for her. As it suggest, this eclectic recording includes pieces at the boundaries of the classical tradition, from Zito’s arrangement of Billy Strayhorn standard Chelsea Bridge to works by avant-garde jazz composers such as Rolf Kühn or Christoph Cech. It also features modern works by Stravinsky, Poulenc or the mischievous quartet of Jean Françaix. Sabine Meyer is surrounded by jazz clarinetist Eddie Daniels and her partners from the Trio di Clarone, including her brother Wolfgang. © Warner Classics
