This album features live recordings from 1937 and 1938, when
Benny Goodman's quartet was one of the most popular bands in the world. Partially fueled by
Goodman's appearances on national radio shows, the quartet's concerts caused near-riots among his legions of teenage fans. Early examples of his swinging style are heard here, on some of the first recordings to be made in concert halls. While the sound quality does suffer, many of his hits are performed here, including "The Shieke of Araby," "Body and Soul," "China Boy," "Nagasaki," and "Everybody Loves My Baby." ~ Stacia Proefrock
