Boys Night Out try very hard to manufacture a seamless form of screamo on their six-song debut, an album that has tremendous highs and disappointing lows. The album can't quite seem to be outstanding metalcore or rather average pop/punk, so it fuses the two together in a vain attempt at coming across with originality. The unique aspect of this band happens to be that they play both styles quite skillfully, they just stumble when trying to combine the two readily opposite musical genres. The majority of these tracks simply are placed in front of the listener and left to be forgotten, although "This Broken Killswitch" and "Sketch Artist Composite" are encouraging signs that
Boys Night Out know what needs to be done. With a little practice and lots of patience,
Boys Night Out could become quite the impressive unit, but for now,
Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses is an early glimpse at a band not quite sure what they want to accomplish. ~ Jason D. Taylor
