Excellent release from the wonderful singer Leila Pinheiro, Catavento e Girassol is entirely dedicated to the fertile association between two masters of modern popular Brazilian music, Guinga and Aldir Blanc. An acoustic album, delicately arranged for a string section which dialogues with hard-swinging cuícas and tamborins, the album reflects the sophisticated cosmopolitan essence of a Rio of the 21th. century which doesn't think necessary to comply with oppressive commercial standards. Subtlety meets swinging sambas in a luxury vehicle: Guinga's harmonies and melodies. Leila, a balançante (swinging) singer herself, never disappoints with her perfect intonation, balance, and creative choice of dynamics. In a release full of stars, Guinga's violão meets celebrated Brazilian jazzman Cláudio Roditi's trumpet, classical/popular violonista Paulo Bellinati, the brasses of Carlos Malta, the piano of Gilson Peranzzetta, the woods of Paulo Sérgio Santos, along with other distinguished musicians.
