This is one of those CDs that makes one wonder why it was released in the first place. While this features the title
Chariots of Fire and the name of electronic composer
Vangelis in big bold print, if one doesn't read the faded print at the bottom of the front of the sleeve, one could be deceived into believing that these are original performances of selections from the Greek master's great film scores. Don't be fooled; they aren't. In fact, these re-recordings are merely covers by something called "the Synthesizer Workshop." Since no other information is given, here is a warning: this is tripe, pure and simple -- a ripoff collection of bad-sounding, overly sentimental readings of
Vangelis compositions by some generic group that is the equivalent of
the 101 Strings playing
Ennio Morricone. Avoid at all costs. ~ Thom Jurek
