Released in 1992,
Christmasing finds
Shirley Caesar running through a selection of newly written holiday tunes and classic Christmas carols, such as "Angels We Have Heard on High," "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "O Holy Night."
Caesar puts her all into these performances, which makes the somewhat generic instrumental support unnoticeable. Ultimately, the album is unlikely to appeal to listeners who aren't already fans, but those fans should be quite pleased by
Christmasing. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
