Polydor's 2005 set
Chronicles is a budget-line box set repackaging of three
Eric Clapton albums from the mid-'70s:
461 Ocean Boulevard,
There's One in Every Crowd, and
E.C. Was Here. Although these three albums were released sequentially between 1974 and 1975, their grouping together three decades later seems nearly random since, apart from
461 Ocean Boulevard, these aren't exactly
Clapton's best albums. Then again, they're hardly his worst --
There's One in Every Crowd is likeable and
E.C. Was Here is a reasonably engaging live album -- and any fan of this particular period of Slowhand's career will find this an affordable way to pick up all three records, even if the packaging leaves something to be desired. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
