Classical Celebration shares a majority of its selections with Diamond Jubilee, another album of all-British favorites from Spectrum Music, though this collection offers a handful of concert standards that have more general appeal. The Ride of the Valkyries from Wagner's Die Walküre, O Fortuna from Orff's Carmina Burana, Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin, and the closing section of Tchaikovsky's "1812" Overture are the substitutions, chosen more for their excitement and volume than for any connection to a theme. However, there are plenty of English selections to rouse listeners, particularly the patriotic songs I vow to thee, my country; Jerusalem; God Save the Queen; and Rule, Britannia.
