Drummer
Barry Elmes' only recording as a leader for the Unity label reveals him to be a strong composer interested in simple melodies and unusual meters. The highlight of the recording is the five-part "1990 Suite," which accounts for half of the album's running time. The three tracks with Wallace and Bickert mark a stylistic detour, moving into more swinging, bluesy material, and although enjoyable, detract from the album's focus. Recommended nonetheless, this was nominated for a Juno Award.
