This was the last recorded effort by
Rafael Cortijo and
Ismael Rivera (except for some backup work by either member and the 1974 reunion of the 1950s group). The group's magic still works in boogaloo, where the band accommodates to the new trend. This effort would to lead to
Ismael Rivera's solo efforts and
Cortijo's newer group,
El Bonche. Hugo Gonzalez's bright compositions are great assets, like the funky "Arrecotín Arrecotán," "Soy Buena Gente," and "La Soledad."
Hector de León's arrangements give the group a fresher approach. Although the group was different and never regained the popularity of their earlier years, this recording scores in generous numbers. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.
