Corta Venas is the third long-player from Eslabon Armado in 2020. The Del Records-issued set is easily the most thematic of the three. The title's literal translation, "cut veins," refers to a subgenre of Mexican romanticos rooted in the darker side of love. Eslabon Armado turns that on its head with this collection. Over a whopping 24-tracks, the songs balance romance with disappointment, commitment with loneliness, and joy with sadness. The original "Andos Mas Que Mal," looks squarely at unrequited love in the first person, while the upbeat cover of Gianluca Grignani's "Mi Historia Entere Tus Dedos" was included because vocalist Pedro Tovar's father sang it to his mother while they were courting.
