This is a wonderful musician, a man who manages to be both sophisticated and true to what is still very much a roots music. Subtler than
Ochoa and more varied (especially in the accordion), he's a little lighter on the roots, but totally and knowingly within the tradition. This particular CD is mostly quartet, but with such added trimmings as nifty old-Carib sax and gorgeous acoustic guitar in a cut or two.
