João Barradas records his first classical album with music by composers as different as J. S. Bach, Luciano Berio, Yann Robin, D. Scarlatti, J. P. Sweelinck and Astor Piazzolla. Barradas became the first accordionist to receive the ECHO Rising Star distinction from the European Concert Hall Organization. This double album comprises the entirety of the programme recently presented in concert halls as diverse as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Philharmonie de Paris and Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York. The accordionist has won some of the most prestigious international accordion competitions, including the World Accordion Trophy (CMA), which he has won twice, the Coupe Mondiale of Accordion (CIA), the International Castelfidardo Contest and the Okud Istra International Competition. This recording is made in collaboration with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Casa da Música Porto and the Luxembourg Philharmonie. © Fuga Libera
