COMPILATION

Following a two-LP set simply called Dime Store Dance Bands, this single album has 16 additional fairly anonymous dance band performances from the 1927-1931 period. The music is melodic, swinging in its fashion, usually includes a vocal that is not too difficult to take, and has a few hot (if unidentified) solos. Such bands as the Clevelanders, the Rialto Dance Orchestra, the Broadway Broadcasters, Al Morris' Playmates, and Dubin's Dandies stand little chance of having their output reissued on CD (the only known band are the Golden Gate Orchestra, who are also the 1927 California Ramblers), so this LP is well worth searching for by collectors of vintage music.
