This live album in two volumes by
Djavan has, in the first volume, some of his biggest hits, like the danceable "Samurai," the funky "Nem Um Dia," the romantic ballad "Oceano," the song "Açaí," "Sina" (here in a rock rendition), and others. The best songs and renditions are the pure, strong, hot, and swinging samba "Serrado," with the firm grip of his brass section; the samba "Flor De Lis," in a simple violão backing; "Amar é Tudo," a beautiful melody with economic accompaniment; the funk-reggae "Azul"; and "Seduzir," with its jazzy solos. In general, this is a typical
Djavan release: An extremely competent Brazilian composer, he adhered to the pop idiom, and his albums for some time have been dealing with a mix of Brazilian and pop grooves. ~ Alvaro Neder
