This album, initially released as Dreamer, was the result of a collaboration of
City with the American producer
Jack Riley, who approached the band at one of their tours in West Germany and persuaded them to make a record for the English-speaking market. The trouble was that
City was a band from behind the Iron Curtain, but saw that they might be able to get a foot into the Western market and agreed to make the record. Nobody told them that
Riley was a bad producer, and the end result was sobering. Apart from writing English translations for the originally German lyrics,
Riley had also newly arranged the songs in quite a bad manner -- he actually managed to convert the atmospheric mood of "Am Fenster" (called "Window" on this album) into a boring piece. If you want to get to know
City, avoid this album -- all the material presented here was released on the previous two albums in much better versions (the one new song appearing on this album, "Love You," sung by
Riley, is so bad it is not worth the investment). The CD release contains two bonus tracks ("Efkaristo" and "Abschied") which are worth being checked out.
