Three years after comedy band
Knorkator broke up in 2008, they announced that they would "take a break from taking a break" and returned with a new album called
Es Werde Nicht, released on their own Tubareckorz label. The record features fewer of the band's metal outbursts (only "Du Nich," "Sofort," and the industrial rocker "Du Bist Schuld" feature heavy riffs), but still offers lots of humorous and ironic songs with absurd lyrics and Stumpen's trademark vocals. Apart from the original songs, which oscillate between softer rock numbers and keyboard-heavy tracks, the album features three covers: "Faster Harder Scooter" by
Scooter, "Geboren" by
Die Fantastischen Vier, and "Ain't Nobody" by
Rufus & Chaka Khan.
Es Werde Nicht is also available as a deluxe edition including a "band commentary" on the individual songs as well as a DVD with a live concert recorded in Berlin in 2008. ~ Christian Genzel
