Shane & Shanes' seventh studio album is their greatest contribution yet to the contemporary worship canon. They finally found a sound to match their enormous outpouring of voices. Rarely does worship sound so personal and so passionate as when these two college friends sit down and start putting scripture to song. The pure emotion of their harmonic tribute to the heavens gushes with each note. Even by their own standards, Shane & Shane are buoyantly enthusiastic on this disc, such as on their moving rendition of "The Lord's Prayer" and the poignant first single "My Hope Is Built." This is at least partially due to the fact that all of the basic instrumentation on the album was recorded simultaneously -- "live" without an audience. This allowed the singers to capture the energy of their concerts while maintaining studio quality production. It is particularly noticeable on the three "radio edit" versions that close the disc -- fuller versions of the title track, "Rain Down," and "I'm Alive." Fans of
Bebo Norman or their labelmate
Mat Kearney should enjoy this disc.
