Damage is an excellent hardcore punk band, and with their album Final, they easily do justice to the punk genre with their fast-paced aggression. Damage is drenched with attitude, and each song on this release spits in the face of authority with skin-peeling intensity.Damage relies on the old-school hardcore format, and Final pulls no punches, offering straightforward aggro with no remarkable twists and turns. Final actually is not one but three album's worth of material, split into three distinct sections. First off there is the nine-song mini-album that is Final. Songs ten through 14 are Damage's demo sessions, and the last eight tracks are live from Damage performing at the legendary CBGB nightclub. The band seems to have zero affinity for lengthy songs, which shines through here, as the longest song on the album clocks in at merely one minute and 55 seconds. This is the only real drawback to the album, as its brief songs don't allow the listener to feel any sort of connection to the tracks, thus making Final more of a blur than a memorable album. If one wants to hear legitimate hardcore punk that follows a strict path, Damage is for you. ~ Jason D. Taylor
