Who could have predicted that a 2003 compilation called
Future Discothèque would include house tracks featuring the voices of disco stars like
Teddy Pendergrass,
Ike & Tina Turner,
Bob Marley, and the poised-for-international-fame
Billie Holiday? Better yet, who could've predicted that these tracks would be mixed together with the likes of
Dead or Alive? This is a two-disc set mixed by DJ Skooby, whose house-dominated play list consists of the bizarre remixes mentioned above and other deep house curiosities, most of which have a distinct lack of character. They have the prime components of house music, but there is little about the selection that makes it any different than any other random set -- unless you consider the out of place vocal turns that turn the whole thing into a cruel joke. It can be knocked down another grade for nicking Mastercuts'
Bar Social graphic design scheme; they could've at least had the sense to steal from a good source.
