Now here's a worthy event -- a new
Tabou Combo release, coming right on the heels of a fabulous retrospective of cuts from their late golden period. This CD is, I think, much better than their heavily zouk-ized late-80's stuff, with a far more Haitian feel to it (though a little too heavy on a squeaky little synth, and the funk influence is tempered by a
Prince-style beat in spots) AND it marks the return of guitarist extraordinaire
Elysée Pyronneau.
