The title
Human is a bit of a feint from
the Veronicas. The album is filled with electro-pop textures, trap beats, and other forms of computerized music, the very opposite of what is generally considered to be "human" music. The trappings may be sleek and stylized, but the songs on
Human are filled with doubt, confusion, and healing, the product of a few uncertain years between Lisa and Jess Origliasso. It stands in direct contrast to the louder, poppier
Godzilla, a companion album released a few months earlier in 2021. Where
Godzilla delivers something closer to what's expected from
the Veronicas,
Human throws some musical and emotional curveballs. If the results are sometimes tenuous or confused -- there is indeed dissonance between the chilly, glossy setting and the vulnerable songs --
