I Believe is a budget label reissue of sundry gospel sides originally released on Columbia singles in the early '50s.
Stuart Hamblen wrote half of the songs, one of which ("Old Pappy's New Banjo") went on to become fairly well known.
Hamblen re-recorded the title track several times, and remade "I've Got So Many Million Years (That I Can't Count Them)" as a duet with
Martha Carson when he moved to RCA in 1955. A rousing performance of "My Religion's Not Old Fashioned" with a sharp sock rhythm and electric guitar really stands out between the slow spirituals and recitations.
Hamblen didn't have many hit singles, but the gospel albums he wrote and recorded for numerous labels were steady sellers.
