Packed with nothing but the best intentions,
If God Can Make a Rock out of Peter is a charming album of folky praise songs.
Teresa Skinner has a very traditional folksinger voice, invoking comparisons to
Skeeter Davis and
Judy Collins with her excellent guitar work and rich voice. The songs are fairly simplistic, but these are ideal for worship services as they are both memorable and repetitive, two good signs for small church choirs looking for new songs. This has very little potential to reach out beyond folk music fans and gospel fans, but both groups of listeners may want to give
Skinner a shot -- she has a knack for simple, catchy folk music with a religious emphasis. ~ Bradley Torreano
