20 ans que les Pixies n’avaient plus trouvé le chemin des studios. Il faut dire que si le groupe est culte, son histoire est cabossée. La formation se sépare en 1993, et revient sur scène dix ans plus tard, écumant les salles sans rien de nouveau à mettre sous les dents de fans affamés. C’est peu de dire que ce Indie City était attendu. Les Pixies sont donc de retour sur CD, mais sans la bassiste Kim Deal, qui a préféré mettre un terme à l’aventure. A l’écoute de ce nouvel opus, on constate que le style Pixies est toujours intact. L’énergie est là, les guitares saturées aussi. Les fans de la première heure devraient donc y trouver leur compte. Toutefois, ce disque fait plus figure de prolongement que de renouveau. Voilà qui devrait leur permettre d’écumer les scènes pendant encore une bonne décennie. ©NG/QOBUZ
