Strange when a small sliver of a band's career gets blown up into super size, but that's just what this box set does, and it's revisionist blowing-up at that. Johnny Yesno Redux is a two-CD/two-DVD set that focuses on director
Peter Care's Johnny Yesno film and the industrial music that went with it, but you won't find
Cabaret Voltaire's original soundtrack here. Instead, paranoid, trippy remixes of the originals from
Cabs member
Richard H. Kirk are included, along with unreleased material, most of it skeletal and strange. Why the video portion gets the original film along with the remix while the audio portion gets shortchanged is a frustrating question, but
Cabaret Voltaire fans always appreciate any unheard music. Plus, with new material showing
Kirk to be in fine form, this set's target audience should go from intrigued to satisfied.
