In 1999, Philippine hip-hop/funk band Kulay released Kulay Remixes, which compiles two Kulay songs, "Delicious" and "Burn," along with their respective remixes earlier released in the United Kingdom as singles. The "Delicious" single was released in the U.K. in September of 1998, while the "Burn" single was released there in 1999. Both "Delicious" and "Burn," which are heavily funk-influenced, are tracks from Kulay's 1997 album, Vibestation. The U.K.-released single of "Delicious" features five remixes in addition to the single. The remixes are interesting, mostly keeping the original melody intact as sung by Kulay's female vocalist while adding techno flourishes and heavy drum'n'bass.
The "Hot Box Stiletto Slapper Mix" features the singer's voice cresting in waves of undulation, while the "Hot Box Pink Shirt Dub" features lazy, jazzy horn fills not heard in the original version. The album rendition of "Burn" is outstanding, deserving of international attention. The remixes are excellent and are notable for being remixed by renowned DJ Norman Cook, also known as Fatboy Slim, whose 1998 album, You've Come a Long Way, Baby, caused a stir with such songs as "Praise You" and "The Rockafeller Skank." Also contributing a "Burn" remix is another renowned DJ, Judge Jules.
