The group sounds exuberant as it pounds out sax-driven cumbias and charangas "La Cucharita" ("The Teaspoon") and "Ave Pa've" ("Let's See"). Their mostly instrumental version of "The Blob" was the biggest hit here, and can still be heard on the radio and at dances today. Even the dated-sounding rocker "Probemos Otra Vez" ("Let's Try Again") is a camp pleasure thanks to José Guadalupe Barrera's enthusiastic vocals. Although ballads were a minor part of their repertoire at the time, the soft-rock efforts "Te Extraño" ("I Miss You") and "Niña Mía" ("My Girl"), which was later recorded by Salomon Robles y Sus Legendarios, feature memorable melodies and represent welcome breathers from the dance-floor heat that surrounds them. ~ Douglas Shannon
