Mötley Crüe bassist
Nikki Sixx certainly has a hankering for vintage
AC/DC and
Aerosmith sounds, as a pair of bands he signed to his Eleven Seven Music imprint --
the Last Vegas and
Charm City Devils -- sonically reflect the days when
High Voltage and
Toys in the Attic were fresh in the shops. The latter group's 2009 debut offering, the appropriately titled
Let's Rock-N-Roll, is a greasy slab of blues metal -- chock full of amped up riffs (courtesy of six-stringsters Vic Karrera and Nick Kay) and whiskey soaked vocals (courtesy of John Allen), especially on such cuts as the title track and "10,000 Miles." Fans of
Buckcherry and
Airbourne should certainly give
Let's Rock-N-Roll a listen, as
Charm City Devils fit in comfortably with the early 21st century crop of
DC disciples. ~ Greg Prato
