Until his untimely death in 2002, guitarist Little Jimmy King was keeping electric blues alive, specializing in Memphis-style blues and drawing inspiration from his mentors, Jimi Hendrix and Albert King (the two artists from whom he took his stage name). LIVE AT B.B. KING’S, L.A., finds the young six-string slinger tearing through a set of amped-up, Southern-fried barnburners with a band that rises to the occasion. The focus, naturally, is on King’s voice, his appealing tunes, and his fiery, impassioned playing.
