The emphasis on this erratic CD is on funk and dance music rather than jazz altough there are a few isolated strong moments.
Willie Bobo's band performs his vocal feature "Dindi" and the funky "Come on and Get a Piece." A forgotten band,
LAPD, is forgettable on their feature and are merely okay backing
Jimmy Withersppon on a blues. Tenor-great
Gene Ammons puts a lot of feeling into "Here's That Rainy Day" but then the R&B group
WAR jams endlessly on a 16-minute vamp which finally fades inconclusively. There is no real reason to acquire this disc. ~ Scott Yanow
