The fine baritonist
Ronnie Cuber is in the spotlight throughout this meeting with the Netherlands'
Metropole Orchestra. Arrangements for the ten songs (eight standards and two
Cuber originals) were provided by
Rob Pronk,
Jerry Van Rooyen, and Jan Wessels. Other than a guitar solo,
Cuber is the only soloist throughout the concise performances, all of which clock in at around three minutes apiece. He plays quite well on such numbers as "Brazil," "The Song Is You," and "Speak Low," although no real surprises occur; the charts are a bit conservative. A decent if not essential release.
