A new company (Rival Records) plus a new member (Edgar "Gemini" Porter; original member
Jason Champion now devotes his life to Christianity) equals a disappointing CD. Cutesy hip-hop best describes this effort; this might have been acceptable had it been their debut album, but this is their third CD, and it's reasonable to expect more improvement than you see here. Even good cuts like "Ghetto Love," "Lexus Coupe," "The Studio," "I Got Skillz," and "Keepin' It Hot" lack the bite of previous productions by
Gerald Levert.
Dave Tolliver misses Champion's theatrics; Gemini is more subdued, and the chemistry isn't the same. Is this the reason Northcoast DJ Tolliver's next project is a solo CD? ~ Andrew Hamilton
