MC Solaar raps in slangy, idiomatic French about weighty matters on
Mach 6. "La Vie Est Belle," as singer Audrey Chanu sings at the outset on a track of that title, but the rapper makes clear that all is not well, providing a bill of particulars in "Guerilla," which calls out Hamas, Mossad, the FBI, and the CIA, among other antagonists. A vision of paradise may be suggested by "Jardin d'Eden," but a child plaintively asks, "Dis MC, pourquoi tu peux sauver le monde?" Because, he answers, he isn't Superman, and yet the song calls for the world to be saved.
MC Solaar declaims his raps in a deep voice with a strong sense of rhythm, his rhymes reinforced by musical tracks drawing upon African and Indian styles. The music implies a pan-global confluence, even as the rapper explores the difficulties of personal and international understanding. ~ William Ruhlmann
