A fairly standard piece of MOR easy listening that occasionally verges on instrumental soft rock (the opening "First Time," with its wimp rock electric guitar solos, could be a
Peter Cetera-era
Chicago outtake),
Richard Ball's
Magic Harmonica does feature some excellent harmonica playing, though the sludgily lush arrangements, heavy on the synthesizers and electronic percussion, and the faceless original material (except on the odd choice of a cover of Khachaturian's "Sabre Dance") undercut most of its pleasure. By the 2050s, this might have some kitsch value.
