After opening with a ten-minute ballad that sounds as if it was written as a salute to Mineral,
Mind the Gap goes on to an alternative rock variety. The aforementioned "Promise" is a lengthy but enjoyable pop ballad that continues with the song "Red Dots" with an added uppity energy. The remainder goes from a swing of guitar-driven rock to catchy power pop. With the latter making
Mind the Gap much more of an enjoyable listen, hopefully it won't take another four years for
Tristan Psionic to release their next album.
