Movie Scene Street by The Conscience Pilate - Uhune

ALBUM

Reminiscent of the early heydays of Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers without the political rhetoric, the album is a hit with the occasional miss tossed in. One David Bowie cover is performed, but seems a bit of a throwaway in comparison to the almost perfect pop in "Perfect Prize" and "The Path of Least Resistance." "Instant Legend" is eerily similar to Bowie's "Heroes," but is quite strong on its own. A couple of the numbers run a bit long, losing the needed steam to keep each afloat. The rhythm section of bassist Edward Pond and Jeff Ogden is airtight, which works well on most of the tracks. A couple of the tracks are added as bonus tracks in the form of demo versions and one remix. Lead singer Neil Leyton has enough sneer and chops in his delivery to carry each verse into the album's air-guitar-inducing riffs. A majority of the demos are equally as strong musically and structurally as the original album songs. A very good effort indeed. ~ Jason MacNeil
