Nach fast 50 Jahren im Musikgeschäft war der 1949 geborene deutsche Rock- und Popsänger Peter Maffay 2017 als Gast zum MTV-Unplugged-Format eingeladen. Am 8. und 9. August spielte er im Steintor Varieté in Halle an der Saale mit Sessionprofis wie Carl Carlton und Bertram Engel zwei Konzerte, in denen er seine Songs im Akustikgewand darbot. Die Setlist enthielt Stücke aus verschiedenen Phasen seiner Laufbahn - und natürlich Klassiker wie "Du", "Eiszeit" oder "Über sieben Brücken musst du gehn". Als Gäste unterstützten ihn Kollegen wie Johannes Oerding, Katie Melua, Jennifer Weist und Philipp Poisel. Der Mitschnitt ist als Doppel-Album, aber auch als Doppel-DVD und BluRay erhältlich.
